The History of ArtisAlive
In 1992, inspired by Michael Devine's art and music festival called POP/CULT, Deloris Angeli found space for a one night art show. Local artists displayed their wild artwork and local musicians played throughout the evening. The show got bigger each year eventually moving to the McKinley Center in downtown Canton, and then in 2003, with the support of the Canton Museum of Art, to the Cultural Center for the Arts.
Following more than a decade of glowing success, Ms. Angeli relinquished the reins of ART IS ALIVE after the 2006 show. At that time, Robin Kratzer of Quonset Hut kept the event on its rocketing ride, hosting a weekend show where 3,000 people attended and sales exceeded $40,000. 2009's event was much of the same, prompting the ever-lovely Ms. Kratzer to realize her success and her desire to take a deep breath and let somebody else be the lead dog for awhile. The folks at ArtsinStark agreed to, growling aside, “run the show” for 2010. And, so the adventure continues …
Artist Vendor Info
Displays:
Vendors are encouraged to decorate their booths in whatever fashion they desire. Backdrops and hanging walls are permitted. You will need to supply your own tables and other fun fixtures, but all display materials must fit within your allotted 8'wide x 10'deep space.
ELECTRICTY is available for all booths. TABLES can be rented @ $20/ea.
Arrival and Booth Set Up: Thurs. April 12 (4pm-8pm) and Friday, April 13 (10am – 4 pm).
Please plan to arrive and set up your booth within the time allotted. Ideally, you should have all your stuff up and ready to roll by 5:00 p.m. on show day. We will have (2) security guards on site so you can leave to powder your nose or feed your faces at some of the fabulous area dining nearby.
ArtsinStark staff will be there to point you in the direction of your booth and assist you in any way possible (or at least, within reason).
Friday @ 5 pm -- Artist Vendor Meet and Greet
Booth Break Down: Saturday, April 14 (3pm – 5pm)
Please don’t dismantle your booth early.
When the show is over, we ask that you break down your booth, pack up the (very) few items you didn’t sell, and get the heck out of the building. We’ll clean up your trash.
Prohibited Items for Artists:
Non-original work -- Commercial reproductions -- Work created from kits
Nothing your Grandma would make (unless she’s really hip!) -- No live animals (seriously?)
